Illinois pop rock outfit Plain White T’s are set to follow up their 2008 longplayer, Big Bad World, with a brand new effort this October, titled Wonders of the Younger. The “Hey There Delilah” five-piece are currently finishing up recording and mixing sessions for the disc, which is being produced by fellow American Ian Kirkpatrick.
According to frontman Tom Higgenson, the group’s new record is “all about pushing the boundaries of our creativity and musical imagination combined with a dose of nostalgia,” he says, insisting it’s about looking back to good times in their past. “It’s still very much a Plain White T’s album,” he continued. “The songs are sincere and melodic, no matter what the subject matter. We want to create an experience that takes our fans to an unexpected place while still giving them songs to sing along to.”
Having earned two Grammy nominations for their previous effort, the five-piece (who formed back in high school) will launch their latest disc with first single Rhythm of Love”, written by guitarist Tim Lopez, which is set for release in September.
“We’re focused on writing great songs that resonate with what the band has become,” says Higgenson of the group’s ambition for the new album. “If you listen to it in your car or on headphones, we want it to feel like a big, flowing rollercoaster ride – where you never quite know what’s coming next.” An exact release date for Wonders of the Younger is yet to be announced.
