With her upcoming nuptials to British comedian Russell Brand getting closer, 25-year-old “California Gurls” pop star Katy Perry (who was recently in Australia on a promo tour) celebrated her soon-to-be romantic union by throwing a special ‘hens’ party, with the theme of ‘Alice In Wonderland’.

The normally outrageous star held an intimate party at a friend’s garden in Los Angeles over the weekend, inviting just 11 guests including her on tour DJ Mia Moretti, and her stylists Logan Horne, Rick Henry and Aaron Light.

According to the Herald Sun, Perry posed with her grandmother in photos, posting a few images on her Twitter site to share with fans. To make sure she was the only person releasing pics to the public, Perry reportedly asked all guests to leave their phones at the door.

Perry recently spoke out about rumours that she was planning on wearing a custom-built latex wedding dress, insisting that while she’s a fan of the clothing, it’s not quite bride material. “I’m definitely not going to get married in latex,” she confessed. “When I wear latex on stage, I sweat. I could wring out those dresses – and I don’t want to do that at my wedding.”

 Perry will soon make her first appearance in a starring role on the big screen, with recent confirmation that she’ll play Smurfette in the official movie adaptation of TV cartoon “The Smurfs”.
