Pop star Usher has told US People magazine that he has no regrets about his failed marriage, which only lasted less than two years.

After filing for divorce from Tameka Foster in June 2009, the “DJ Got Us Falling In Love” singer said, "We're two different people and we have two different goals. It was just never going to work out 100 per cent." He spoke of his former wife generously and said, "I appreciate the relationship for what it was. Even though it didn't work out, I'm glad we got together. I love her as the mother of my children; we just couldn't be married."

The couple have two children together – two-year-old Usher V, and 20-month-old Naviyd – and the “OMG” chart-topper said the two boys have been fuel to keep their relationship cordial despite their differences. “We had to put our issues aside and focus on raising them. There will never be another mother for my sons, and I'll always be their father.”

He said the change in their relationship is evident in his music. Whereas his top-selling Raymond Vs Raymond album was about his marriage falling apart and being “a single father”, Usher says on his most recent release Versus, he is singing about, “being a dating father.” He remains positive about future relationships. “I still believe in love. I believe in marriage. When I fall in love again, everyone will know. I'll sing about it.”
