Susan Boyle has reportedly left the US in tears after rock legend and former Velvet Underground frontman Lou Reed banned her from performing his hit “Perfect Day” on the America's Got Talent television show.
The Daily Mail reports that the 49-year-old singer was forced to pull out of the performance after hearing the news on the way to the studio. The Scottish singing sensation had planned to perform the track with a 100-piece children's choir but songwriter Reed pulled the plug at the last minute because he “is not a Boyle fan,” it is claimed.
The unlikely star – whose debut I Dreamed A Dream quickly became the highest selling album of last year in Australia - was unable to sing another song because there was not enough time for her backing singers to learn another track before the scheduled filming.
A source close to the star exclusively told the Daily Mail that the singer was “devastated” when she heard the news. “Susan is very sensitive and is genuinely upset. This has really knocked her confidence. She's now at LAX Airport sobbing her heart out.”
