Norah Jones is set to release an album made up of her collaborations with a slew of big music names, called …Featuring. The Come Away With Me hit-maker, who became a breakout commercial success with “Don’t Know Why” in 2002, says recording with other musicians is an interesting process.
"It's so exciting and flattering and fun when I get asked to sing with somebody that I admire," explained Jones of her collaborations. "It takes you a little bit out of your comfort zone when you're doing something with another artist. You don't know what to expect—it's kind of like being a little kid and having a playdate."
Foo Fighters, M Ward and Outkast are amongst the artists who have recorded songs with Jones in the past decade. The …Featuring collection also contains songs with Dolly Parton, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, Belle & Sebastian and Ray Charles.
The daughter of Indian sitar-player Ravi Shankar, Jones has always been surrounded by music and considers Willie Nelson to be her “mentor”. A collaboration with the influential country star is one of the tracks on her upcoming release.
The New York-born hit-maker will release the new album in November. It will be the follow-up to 2009’s The Fall.
