Their brand new album, Come Around Sundown, is out today, and now Tennessee rock giants Kings Of Leon might just be headed back to Australian shores next March, if a new interview with Molly Meldrum is any clue.
The “Radioactive” rockers were chatting with the iconic Aussie interviewer for TV program “Sunrise” when he began discussing their popularity down under, which stretches right back to their first LP, 2003’s Youth & Young Manhood. Trying to find out just when exactly they’d next be headed our way, Meldrum suggested he’d heard rumours the band would be returning to our shores mid March 2011. “We’re hearing those rumours too. We’re excited,” the group replied, refusing to elaborate.
“There’s just a laid back vibe in Australia that we’re use to coming from the South and there’s no pressure with anything,” continued singer Caleb Followill. “And just the way that the crowds respond it’s very familiar to us, you know… there’s a lot of similarities besides the accents obviously.”
In another KOL chat with a British radio station this week, married drummer Nathan Followill let slip on his bandmates’ romantic pick-up styles. “Jared’s the single one,” Nathan joked to XFM. “He’s not exactly the charmer. He’s a club rat. It’s sign language, mainly. But we’re all pretty charming,” Followill insisted. “We’re from the South, it’s been bred into us.”
Come Around Sundown is released today, and was produced by Angelo Petraglia and Jacquire King.
