With a career of hits behind him, New Zealand singer/songwriter Tim Finn has announced he’ll soon head into the studio to begin work on his ninth release – with American producer/mixer Jacquire King (the man responsible for taking Kings Of Leon to the stadiums with 2008’s Only By The Night and the recently released Come Around Sundown) behind the desk.

The knighted Split Enz/Crowded House singer will record the follow-up to 2008’s The Conversation at Roundhead Studios in Auckland, with sessions kicking off late next month. The studio is, conveniently, owned by his brother Neil Finn.

Having helped formed Split Enz back in 1972 and responsible for hits such as “Staring At The Embers” and “I See Red”, Finn has gone onto to enjoy an illustrious career. He recorded with Crowded House on 1991’s seminal Woodface LP, teamed up with Neil again for their Finn Brothers releases, and over the years has supplied several songs to Hollywood film soundtracks. Last year saw the release of a celebrated anthology of his work titled North, South, East, West..., while next month record label EMI will release a brand new compilation in his and his brother’s honour: He Will Have His Way – The Songs of Tim & Neil Finn.

With time spent in the studio with the likes of Kings Of Leon, Tom Waits, Norah Jones, Cold War Kids and Modest Mouse so far, Jacquire King is one of the hottest producers in the music biz. Tim Finn will release their new collaboration mid 2011.
