With their latest LP, Hands All Over, peaking at number seven on the ARIA Albums chart upon its release back in September, Los Angeles five-piece Maroon 5 have announced they’ll return to Australia for a series of arena shows in May 2011.
Lead by singer Adam Levine, Maroon 5 have returned to the airwaves with their latest and third LP, which saw them teaming up with producer Robert John “Mutt” Lange (AC/DC, Def Leppard). According to Rolling Stone, on their latest effort the band’s “already polished sound is burnished to a high-gloss glow… Levine and crew could be blue-eyed-soul godheads, the 21st-century Hall and Oates.”
It’s almost ten years on for the popular outfit, who first broke out with their multi-platinum 2002 debut Songs About Jane, which produced hit songs such as “Sunday Morning”, “She Will Be Loved” and “Harder to Breathe”.
With lead single “Misery” kicking off their latest release, joining Maroon 5 in Australia is Cobra Starship, returning to our shores for a second time in 2011, as well as Grammy winning artist Sara Bareilles, who’ll perform tracks from her LP Kaleidoscope Heart.
Aussie singer-songwriter Ry Cuming, hailing from Angourie, NSW, has scored the opening support slot.
A pre-sale for the tour will go on sale 2pm Thursday 18 November, while general public tickets are set to be snapped up from 9am Tuesday 23 November.
