With her first real foray into the big screen set to his cinemas at the end of this month, 29-year-old pop singer Christina Aguilera says she’s more than a fan of Burlesque co-star Cher – she reckons she’d “drink Cher’s bath water.”
The blonde “Not Myself Tonight” singer, who recently filed for divorce, says she was nervous about meeting the 64-year-old icon on the set of their upcoming Hollywood film, in which the pair play waitresses/performers at a Los Angeles burlesque club.
“Part of the reason why Clint Culpepper, President of Screen Gems, got Cher on board was because he told her, ‘You don’t understand – Christina loves you,’” Aguilera joked to TV show “Access Hollywood” yesterday. “‘She needs you to be in this movie with her, because she is such a huge fan. She would drink your bath water.’“
The singer says that when she finally met her idol, bringing along her two-year-old son, Max, the pair hit it off instantly. “So when I went to the soundstage with my son on my hip and my flats on, I was so insecure. I was like, ‘Hi, Cher. I’m the one that wants to drink your bath water. That’s me – the obsessed fan stalker!’ We had a good laugh about it.”
Speaking about her marital split, Aguilera says she’s handing things one day at a time, and that her first priority is son Max. “Some moments are harder than others,” she admitted. “I’m under a lot of stuff right now as far as my work, and balancing everything as a mum. My son couldn’t be happier. Max is growing up with so much love around him and I’m definitely always going to keep it that way. I’m looking forward to the movie coming out, and this entire next chapter in my whole life – I really couldn’t be more excited.”
