U2 are heading back to the big screen to star in a new 3D movie. The 90-minute film will be drawn from footage shot at several concerts in South America late last year and is expected to screen in special cinemas around the world, including the IMAX in Darling Harbour, Sydney. Distributors attending the yearly ShoWest convention in Las Vegas last week were treated to footage of a performance of the band's hit "Sunday Bloody Sunday", with producers claiming it's the first film shot, edited and exhibited entirely in 3D. U2's last foray into the world of cinema was their 1988 documentary, Rattle And Hum.
