[Source: NME.com] Disco star Patti LaBelle, who is best known for 1975 hit single 'Lady Marmalade', is facing legal action after she was accussed of ordering her bodyguards to beat up a US marine.
Richard King, who is 23 years old, has accussed the singer of ordering her protection staff to assault him after he got "too close to her limousine" in an incident that took place on March 11 this year in Houston airport.
According to Houston and Texas News, King's lawyer John Raley said he believes LaBelle gave the order for the assault, despite King being on the phone and oblivious to who she was.
He said: "Apparently, LaBelle believed King was standing too close to her luggage, even though he was oblivious to her presence and the danger he was in. She lowered the window of her limousine and gave a command to her bodyguards. They sprang into action."
The police took no action at the time of the incident, despite filing a report that took note of an accusation from LaBelle's limo driver Zuri Edwards who alleged that King hit him and became verbally abusive. Edwards says he voluntarily did not press charges against the 23 year-old.
There is also a video of the incident where three men, who are stood next to a limousine, assault a man who is on a mobile phone. You can see the video at the bottom of the page.
King, who was taken to hospital after the incident with concussion, is suing the singer for actual and punitive damages.
