[Source: NME.com] Elbow's Guy Garvey has recalled meeting former Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who declared himself to be a fan of the band's music.

Garvey crossed paths with Brown when they both appeared on BBC One's Andrew Marr Show in 2008, when the politician spoke of his admiration for the Bury band's track 'One Day Like This'.

"Though he did call it 'On A Day Like This'," Garvey remembered during an interview with the Independent On Sunday.

The former Labour Party leader was never shy of revealing his music taste while living in 10 Downing Street - he famously claimed that Arctic Monkeys "really wake you up in the morning" in 2006.

He also praised Lady Gaga and Cheryl Cole and defended BBC 6music when it was facing the axe last year.

Meanwhile, Garvey also revealed that he struggles to perform onstage without being intoxicated.

"If I didn't have a drink or two before the show, and, OK, another couple on stage, you'd hear it in my voice – the nerves, the terror," he remarked.
