[Source: NME.com] Janelle Monae is taking part in a special event with George Clinton at the British Library in London.
The event, Space Children, is billed as an 'exploration of the afrofuturistic imagination', looking at the links between music and science-fiction. The event takes place on Saturday June 18.
Clinton will be appearing in person, talking about how, with his P-funk outfit Parliament, he turned his whole band into characters from a wild space opera. He will be joined on the stage by Nona Hendryx from Labelle, who as well as having a hit with 'Lady Marmalade', were known for their extraordinary stylings.
The day will also a include a specially-recorded video link from Monae, whose album 'The ArchAndroid' also draws heavily on science fiction themes and imagery,
Meanwhile, there will also be a rare screening of the documentary The Last Angel Of History from director John Akomfrah, which looks at relationship between Pan-African culture, music, science fiction, intergalactic travel and computer technology. It features contributions from Clinton, Goldie, Derek May and DJ Spooky.
