[Source: NME.com] Empire Of The Sun singer Luke Steele has told NME that he has been in touch with his bandmate Nick Littlemore for the first time since 2010's Brit Awards and the pair have started sessions on a new album.

He said the duo got in touch last month and went into a New York studio to lay down a series of demos for the follow up to their 2008 debut 'Walking On A Dream'.

Steele added:

"Breaking news around the world, me and Nick have reunited and we've done about 10 demos for the next record so the new [Empire Of The Sun] era has begun."

Littlemore has had very little involvement with the band since their debut was released three years ago, instead choosing to record a new album with his band Pnau. He also became a musical director of the Cirque Du Soleil New York musical, Zarkana while Steele was left to tour their album around the globe on his own.

He said:

"When the record came out Nick joined the circus literally and that project took a lot longer than he thought it would. That's why he hasn't been in the band."

Steele added: "We have such a weird relationship because the day before we actually went into the studio was the first time we'd spoken since the Brit Awards last year. And it was great the sessions went really well and we're hoping to go into the studio again in September."

The singer admitted he was relieved that the pair were finally able to start work on a new album and he's hoping to bring Littlemore on tour with him at some stage.

Meanwhile, Empire Of The Sun performed a flamboyant headline slot on the Main Stage at the Flow Festival in Finland last night (August 13).

Steele, who was backed by dancers clad in silver capes and a drummer wearing a Roman helmet, performed a series of tracks from 'Walking On A Dream' including the title track, 'Standing On The Shore' and 'We Are The People'.
