  • Boy & Bear are the most exciting thing to emerge on the Australian pop music scene in the last few years. They teased us last year with an EP and followed up this year with the beautiful Moonfire, but until you have seen them play live, you don’t really appreciate just how exciting and fresh these boys are.
  • I have spun this album so many times this year the grooves in my hard drive have worn out. This is an album that I have introduced to friends and family with varying music tastes and they have all warmed to it.
  • While 2011 was definitely Boy & Bear’s year – I’m tipping 2012 will be all about Matt Corby.

  • This is the second year in a row that Kanye West has been my number 1 album of the year - he's on to something!
  • This is the joint effort of rap superstars Jay-Z & Kanye West. Mixing old school samples with the rap you expect from such esteemed artists, this album feels like your favourite old album as well as a fresh new album at the same time.
  • So many fantastic tracks on the album, but my current favourite is 'Made In America'.

  • Drums rock it out + love all the brilliant sounds and how they mix
  • Have always loved Radiohead's sound and this has mellowed out perfectly for me
  • Especially love the remixes that have off the back of this album as well as the video clips… Thom Yorke's dancing is gold!

  • This album is very different to what we’ve heard before, where they’ve churned out the pop-dance hits.
  • This time around, it’s the dance-pop hits which I’m sure are crowd fillers on the dance floor.
  • They may have lost a band member but they haven’t lost their brilliance.

  • The debut album from California indie pop/rock group Foster The People. I saw them at Splendour in the Grass 2011, and alongside Kayne, they were my highlight of the festival. We love a band that can back up a fantastic album LIVE! They’re back for in Oz for BDO & their sideshows sold out very quickly.
  • This amazing debut album has earned them 2 Grammy nominations for “Best Alternative Album” against the likes of  Radiohead, Death Cab For Cutie & Bon Iver. Also nominated for “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance” for their song “Pumped Up Kicks” which also made it into the Triple J Hottest 100 list in 2010.
  • Absolute MUST own. This is by far one of my favourite albums of all time, not just 2011!

  • Wasting Light is the 7th studio album from my favourite band in the entire world - Foo Fighters!!
  • This record is their best work since their 1997 release "The Color and the Shape"
  • This really is garage rock - the whole album was recorded in Dave's home garage studio using analog tape!
  • I can't pick a favourite song because every single one is freaking brilliant!!!

  • While Danger Mouse has cleaned off some of the dirt on this seventh album, there’s still enough dirty, grimy blues on it to leave a man pining for better days.
  • As much as I enjoyed (and admired the technical strengths in some cases) of the other albums on my list, none spoke their message as consistently, clearly and evocatively as the rough buzzing guitars and whiskey-soaked voices of El Camino.
  • The best serving suggestion I have for the album is this: Get in your car, put on your sunglasses and El Camino, and just drive wherever the road takes you.
