In January, the population of Tamworth almost doubles in size as the Tamworth Country Music Festival comes to town. Country Music fans come by ute, bus, train, plane and even camel to the large inland city on the banks of the Peel River.

Over the years, the festival has played host to performances by some of the biggest names in Country Music from Australia, and around the world.  Keith Urban, Missy Higgins, Kasey Chambers, Shane Nicholson and Sugarland are just a few of the names featured in the star studded line-ups of past festivals.

As well as the big names, the Tamworth Country Music Festival provides a nuturing ground for up and coming Country Music stars through the Telstra Road To Tamworth competition.  Here,  Australia's finest up and coming Country Music performers and song writers get their chance to show their talent to the entire nation.  Past winners of the competition include Jessica Mauboy, Morgan Evans, Nick Kingswell and Jasmine Rae.
